Ask the Doctor

Q: What information should I bring to my first office visit?

A: For the initial visit, be sure to bring your insurance card, a picture ID (i.e. Driver's License), and any medications that you are currently taking (prescribed and over-the-counter). At each follow up visit, you will still need to bring your ID, insurance card and any new medications.

Q: How long is the wait?

A: At Feagins Medical Group, we know that your time is valuable. Your initial visit may last 30-45 minutes, depending on the reason for your visit.  Average follow up visits are 15-30 minutes, again depending on the reason for your visit.

Q: If I don't have insurance, how much is a office visit and what does it include?

A: Initial office visits for new patients are $150.00, which include the consultation, examination and medications.  It does not include any lab work.

Q: Do you accept walk-ins?

A: Yes. Walk-ins are welcome Monday-Friday. As a walk in, however, your wait time may be longer than if you were to come in as a scheduled patient. If a slot is available, it's better to schedule an appointment.

Q: What is your opinion about the H1N1 flu vaccine... should I get it?

A: The CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) has recommended the 2009 H1N1 vaccine for the following 5 target groups (approximately 159 million persons nationally):

  • Pregnant women
  • Household and caregiver contacts of children younger than 6 months of age
(e.g. parents, siblings and daycare providers)
  • Health care and emergency medical services personnel
  • Persons from 6 months through 24 years of age
  • Persons aged 25 through 64 years who have medical conditions associated with a higher risk of influenza complications (ie. HIV, Asthma, COPD, Diabetes, etc)

Q: Is the H1N1 Vaccine safe?

A: According to the CDC, the 2009 H1N1 vaccine is absolutely safe.  There have been no reported serious side effects from the vaccine at this present time and the CDC continues to monitor for any reported adverse effects from those states administering the vaccine.
